Bourgogne is located North of Lyon and expands until Beaune in the valleys and slopes west of the Soane riiver. Host of great wines such as Meursault, Gevrey Chambertin, Pommard, Puligny Montrachet, Chassagne Montrachet, Chablis, Pouilly Fuisse, etc... This region has since long produced wines from Chardonnay for all the whites and Pinot Noir for the reds Burgundies. Red and whites are also made from other such as,Gamay and Aligote respectively. Small amount of Rose and Sparkling are also produced in the region. Chardonnay-dominated Chablis and Gamay-dominated Beaujolais are formally part of the Burgundy wine , but wines from those subregions are usually referred to by their own names rather than as "Burgundies Wines".
